So I have some money saved up and I figured that I'm going to pick up a couple new lenses for my camera, but i'm having a hard time making desicions on which one's to get and wouldnt mind some suggestions.

I know that I'm most likely going to pick up a 50mm 1.7 seeing as I would like a fast lens and they seem to produce good sharp results for a pretty good price.

I know for the second lens that I'm going to purchase that I want a telephoto. I have been looking at the da 50-200, but want an upgrade over the kit lens, "optics" wise, and it seems as though it's pretty much the same lens just longer focal length. Don't get me wrong I love the results the Kit lens produces, but figure if im going to spend the money that I will upgrade. I am looking to spend anywhere up to $500 and am looking for suggestions on some good glass in that price range with a decent focal length. Post examples if you got em as well

If you are looking new, you won't find a 50/1.7 - Pentax doesn't make them any more - you can find the old M/A/F series on ebay quite regularly. They are great lenses any one of them (I have a M and F 1.7 - love them both)

On the tele side - the 50-200 is a "kit" class lens, but its one of the best out there. Sigma has a 70-200 and 70-300 that are supposed to be pretty good but I'm not sure they are any better...

With $500 you could get a respectable bagfull of great screwmount lenses.
