DA 14mm F2.8 ED IF - Good Deal ?

Newbie Here to DSLR

I have to chance to pick up a Pentax DA 14mm F2.8 lens (add says 2 years old perfect condition) for between $300 - $400 Cdn. I have read some good stuff about this lens here - questions I have is this a resonable deal ? Will it work with my k100d and AF ? And the title of the ad was the suject matter - was does ED IF stand for ?

Is this lens more for Landscape or is a good walk around lens (my sig has what other lens I have) - LBA - amazing I know nothing and I already want more

As long as the lens is in good shape, that's a very good deal!

ED [IF] is part of the lens name and stands for Extra-Low Dispertion glass elements and Internal Focusing.

I've seen this lens going for around 700CAN ish. Yes it will work fine on your K100D.

the lens is great for landscape but remember it will be a considerably larger investment than any of the lenses you have. If you intend to do alot of wide angle work, then this lens maybe for you.

Great unsure what I will be taking mostly will it be good for macro or not so much ? Price wise will be comparable to other lens I have if I get it for $300.00.

I quess what I am after is a good Lens that will do macro , range around 16-70 ? and is fast - the new DA* look to fit the bill but are expensive - that is not too big a concern. I want zoom for sports action hoping my 300mm will cover that and them some ad-hoc shots of people , places and things I quess ...not so happy with the sigma 18-125 but allot of that is propably 'user error'

That's an unbelievably good deal for that lens. You should buy it if you want a wide angle.

Also, none of the lens above are Macro lens. You need a D-FA 50mm or 100mm, or a sigma macro.

It's a nifty lens. And, that's a good price.

Though, awhile back, I think I got the best deal ever on this lens ... picked one up for $500... It did however come with a few freebies, like a Tamron 28-200mm zoom, a DA 18-55mm and an *ist DS... all housed in a Pelican 1400 case.

I usually see the DA 14mm 2.8 alone going for $500 US. So, snatch it up! It's a fun one!

Here's a quick sample...
