where to buy..

... extension tubes for pentax? I did a lot of searching in the internet and also Finnish shops seem to be pretty empty, so I couldn't find a set anywhere. I intend to use them with K20D and Sigma 50/1.4 and perhaps 70-200/2.8. Tips, anyone?

If you are looking for PK type extension tube, then Ebay is your best friend. Original Pentax, Vivitar, Kenko tubes are available on Ebay. And then there are all those cheap new extension tubes also available on Ebay. However, if you are looking for tube with A contacts so that you can use it with lenses without aperture ring, then you have to keep looking. That type of tube is rarely listed. Also, marketplace here is a good source for finding a PK type tube.

I know this could be dead end, but I bought one Soligor Extension Tube -set (12mm DG, 20mm DG and 36 mm DG) from them. These tubes have functioning aperture lever, digital contacts, but do not allow AF (who on earth supposes to use AF with macro). On the box there reads P/AF and gives indication about AF, but it must have been put there to mean it is "new era" and has electrical contacts. At Topshot they were willingly selling me that set last year (I guess it was their only) because some customer couldn't get AF working with it.

My idea is that they at least know where to order the set. Worth asking. The price supposedly was between 150-200 euros. Don't ask what I payed.

P.S. You can e-mail me (in Finnish) if any further questions.

FOTOABC in Poland has K-mount extension tubes with the A contacts. They run about GBP 80 or 120 USD. Here is their ebay store via US ebay. Look for "Macro Automatic Extension Tube Rings for Pentax K".

Note that I could not find the A style macro rings for Pentax on their website though I have seen them there previously. Their ebay store does currently list them.

Best,
John

Yes, I forgot to mention that I'm looking for tubes with contacts. Thanks Veijo,
I've done lots of shopping in Topshot with Lasse, so I guess he can get me one.

Hmmmm... a set for less than 100 euros is very tempting. Thanks for the link John!

Actually I just ordered a set via their ebay store. Your thread reminded me that I wanted them. Don't know when I'll receive them - takes a bit to get things across the pond. Will let you know what I think when I do - though when I was looking at them a month or so ago reviews seemed to be good.

best,
John

They appear to be the same as the ones grzehoofr uses and describes in the My macro photos thread. I received them about a week ago - only took about 10 days to arrive from Poland. They work as advertized - both my DA 35 & Tamron SP AF90 macro lenses meter as expected when mounted to each extension or with all of them attached at once. All in all, I'm very happy with them - for me they are worth the cost.
