Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I just had a thought. How high temperature can a lens take? I recall that mold dies at about 60*C and in that case it would be easy to kill it off, just to stop the growth, in an oven or dry sauna.

ZOmbie thread!

It was mentioned earlier in this thread (by the erudite BenEdict) that heat can cause the semi-solid lubricants in the lens to break down and liquify, then seep onto internals that are a real pain to clean off (aperture blades, internal elements).

So yeah, avoid high temps...
