for $1500, I would expect only stunning shots. Otherwise, for 1/4th the price, the Tamron or Pentax 18-250 still gets my vote for everyday, walk around use.

WOW!! I really want one know, just not sure if I should keep both the DA*200 and the DA*300. I sure wish I had it for next week when I am at the golf tourney, it would come in so handy.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the following would be more representative of the dimensions (not acutance, of course) you'd expect in the 100% crop of the other photo in the series. I scaled the other photo to 4672x3104 and the following is the scaled image's 100% center crop. EDIT: I scaled and cropped the following photo:

I'm in exactly the same boat on the other side of the ditch. Nobody is even listing the 60-250 yet, and I'm not even going to bother calling them, just based on how much the 50-135 goes for at the moment.

It's a shame, because you'd think smallish (population wise, relative to the rest of the world) countries would be the perfect place to build up market share....

Or not...

Oh, and to stay on topic... if the 60-250 turns out to really be like the first few pictures suggest it might be....my savings account will hate me...

Why not just the DA 55-300mm?

Looks very promising.

I checked out its Australian price.....wait for it.... $2850aud

So why on earth would anyone pay that for it in Australia when it can be purchased online at Adorama or B&H for $1400 usd.? madness.

Converted, that is $1000 less than here.

As much as I want to support a local store...I simply can not justify the difference.

Some one needs to wake up.
Buy it from the UK and it's A$1600. $1000 cheaper.

Not constant f/4, not weather sealed, not SDM. Sure the 55-300 is lighter and has a larger zoom range but * glass is on a whole nother level.

Hate to burst YOUR bubble but what you scaled up was actually a 1:1 crop so your final result has nothing to do with whatever this lens can do.

Very nice, you have both the 200 and the 300?

Which is the nicer IQ/handling of the two?

In practice, the difference between f/4 and f/5.8 is not terminal, and the 55-300 has been getting good reviews. It is terribly slow to focus and not built like the DA*, which some report to be quite fast.
