To owners of the lens, how fast is the auto-focus? Hopefully faster than the DA* 50-135? And how stable is the front when extended? With my DA* 300 I like hand-holding on the hood. Is there any noticeable wobble, etc. when held in that fashion?

I think the AF is fast enough, I can't notice it's any slower than 50-135mm. There's no "noticeable wobble" when it's extended. But I'm not sure if it can cope with your holding fashion, since I've never tried that.

I don't think it will beat the Sigma's AF speed, though, and hopefully it will be discounted soon to near or below Sigma 100-300 levels.

.
The Pentax DA* 60-250mm here in the UK is 1/3 cheaper than the Sigma 100-300mm f4. Pentax = £800, Sigma = £1200.
My 60-250mm was ordered today.

Thanks for the input. Do you have the 50-135? (Didn't see it listed in your sig) It just feels really slow when compared to my DA*300 which is quick and snappy. It's a toss up between the DA*60-250, DA*200, or Sigma 70-200 (although I really want to stay with the Pentax lenses).

Nice images.

My money is on Wheatfield being the next person on this forum to get this lens. Or at least the next Canadian to get it.

You'll probably lose the bet: It's a zoom.
