Whats a fair price for an FA35 f/2

I can into one at a local camera store, they are typically overpriced so I am curious.

Of course it is marked discontinued at B&H, but it WAS $269 - $299 depending on supplier. Now it is whatever you are willing to pay and whatever the seller is willing to take.

Stupid answer, I know - but try to find a new one.

It's $299 still available at Adorama. If you can test it and get the warranty supporting local may (or may not be) worth it.

There's no cheap one in canada though =( I desperately NEED (in capitals) one for the US price.

It depends on whether they really are discontinued and not available new. When the FA 28/2.8 was really no longer available, there was a price spike while those who just missed the boat really wanted one.

I spoke with Adorama today looking to order one but they are out of stock and I was told that they are discontinued. If you check out the Pentax website the FA35 is no longer listed on the DA35.

I've been searching and so far no where I have looked has had one.

$269.00 I tried that one out too. Very nice lens. Let me know if you can talk them down.

Wow, I guess I got the last one from Adorama, or pretty darn close. It arrived here in Texas Tuesday. I'm really glad I bought it, wonderful glass.

Germar, I am so jealous. I bought my 70 just a couple of weeks ago and at that time Adorama still had the FA35 and I was thinking of picking it up at that time instead of the 70. I opted for the 70 figuring that I could save up for the FA35 since it was cheaper than the 70, little did I know if I would have done it the other way around I'd now have both lenses instead of just one. I'm not complaining about the 70 I love it. Right now I'm considering the DA35 or possibly going all the way for the 21MM

Possible alternative to the FA35

I was doing some searching and Sigma has a 30mm f1.4

The reviews I've found look good, has anyone tried it though?

do a search, that lens is reputable for its very soft corners

For a lens mostly used for wide open, being soft in the corners is probably reasonable. When used for landscape, I think the corners are reasonably sharp at f 5.6-8 from the images that I've seen.

I'd say yes, although the price will probably never get much above $300 used.

It's a great little lens just to own & shoot. Better indoors than the DA because of the extra stop.
