Ghost in the machine ?

Here's three pictures taken with a K10 and DA 50-135 that have a strange 'apparition'.

It's a set of bracketed pic's, all at ISO400 . f11. And the speeds were, 1/100, 1/200, and 1/400.

Any technical reason for this strange apparition, or can I make a fortune from the Sunday newspapers for my ghost pictures?

Lens flare from reflection of one of those I-beams just out of frame to the left (look at the arc of the 'apparition'). Get a longer lens hood or shield the lens with your hand...

Lies.

I acctually took the picture into photoshop and applied some adjustments. And now you can really see that it is infact a ghost! Scary stuff.

Have you used a "protection" or "UV" filter on the lens for these shots? Then you know, where the flare comes frome. Otherwise it might be flare in the lens, but I would not think so from first glance.

That's a bare 50-135 lens with the standard petal hood. hand held as well which is why it isn't the sharpest picture I've ever taken.

And I guess OregonJim is right, the apparition follows the curve of the bridge supports so it's probably glare from one beam.

But I'm going to ignore the logic and go with Zewrack's 'slight adjustment' and get rich.

Maybe if you used one your Spirit Level is malfunctioning.

Are you sure it's not a piece of grass in the foreground?
