Have you ever had one of those days when LBA hits very hard and in the best possible way?

Today was the city's annual photo swap meet and after wandering around the floor for a bit, I found a vendor who was selling old stock but new in box lenses from Tamron, Sigma, Minolta, and Pentax. I skipped over the Pentax 100-300 AF box after I spotted a box labelled "1.7x AF Adapter". I've been trying to track one down for a couple of years - never thought I'd see or touch one unless I was willing to pay a ridiculous amount of money.

I was expecting a big number when I asked the vendor "how much?" She flipped through her pricing sheets and came up with a very low number. It was all I could do to stop from doing a happy dance.

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet but I can hardly wait. Any advice on do's and don'ts with this adapter/converter?

Finally, a Tamron Adaptall-2 PK-A adapter (the one with the electrical connectors) jumped off a table at me

So how much did you pay for the 1.7x? The ones I have seen on eBay typically go for around $300.

I'm almost embarrassed to say this but it was $100 CDN (~117 US). The adapter was absolutely new, still wrapped in its plastic bag and pouch.

There were a lot of screw mount lenses (28mm, tons of 50's and 55's, 135 mm f/3.5, 120mm, 150 mm, 200mm). A SF-1 + F 50mm f/1.7 went for $80. One vendor was exclusively Pentax stuff but his prices were right in line with the going rate. No massive bargains there.

There was a Sigma 50-500mm Bigma, Sigma 15-30mm, and Sigma 15mm. A Tamron 17 mm Adaptall-2 lens was also available. I didn't ask for prices on those lenses but I imagine they weren't anywhere close to retail

I don't imagine that you have that lady's number Kami.

I really shouldn't spend any more for a month or so after a bad case of LBA today, but it might be foolish not to.
If I would have known about that meet I would have ran out to Vancouver for it

Unfortunately, I don't have the vendor's number but I don't think it would be hard to find out from the meet organizer.

This event happens once a year (used to be twice a year). Next one is scheduled for April 20, 2008.
