I want Pentax FAST wide angle primes.

So really just BC I am about to gat a 20ish mm 3.5 soon.

In your experience how often you need more light, with a wide lens like that ?

The main use of this lens for me would be crowded streets, where I don't need bokeh at all.

I am looking for a super sharp small lens that will stay sharp even inside a subway cart , or Grand central station and so on.

My 31mm is too narrow on digital bodies.
On the street with 31mm I am no getting close enough portraits nor full body shot.

The 31mm is the best bars/indoor parties in the world thou

I agree with wanting fast and wide lenses. Low light indoor and night photography would greatly benefit. However, with the advances we continue to see in ISO performance, it seems to be easier and far cheaper to go that route, though we do still need to see some really wide lenses for a crop sensor.

The 24/2 is your best bet. I am also into fast wide primes. There are very few and when you use them for anything besides landscape they give a unqiue flavor to your photo.

I'd also like a fast wide... I think a new 24 F2, or 1.4 is wide and fast enough though. I want it for ... everything... low light, land scape, and everything else. it'd probably have to be about the size of the DA*55, but I can accept that.
btw the canon 24mm 1.4 is my fav lens, very fun and versatile.

Now, If you're talking 10mm @ <f/2 AFAIK it doesn't exist in any mount.

I don't necessarily need a really fast ultra wide angle, though a 16mm or 18mm in F2.0 (APS-C) would be nice. Something around 24mm F2.0 in APS-C at a fair price should exist though, we always had it in FF and it was pretty affordable... Coming from a film/FF perspective, what IS SERIOUSLY lacking in the APS-C format is AFFORDABLE, REASONABLY PRICED near normal fast primes (APS-C 28mm - 35mm 1.8 or faster) & wide angle lenses. You could always buy an affordable fast 'normal' lens for decades, now there are very few choices and what choices we have are far too expensive. And for years you could buy a decent 24mm or 20ish-35mm zoom for maybe $150, now you're looking at spending two or three times that amount to find anything wider than about 18mm in APS-C.

I've heard people suggest a few of these but Sigma makes 24mm F/1.8, 28mm F/1.8, and a 30mm F/1.4.

Yes, I suppose sigma does make something that sounds close, but the 20 and 24 are really kinda big and shouldn't a crop cam lens be a bit smaller than that... also the 30 1.4 (the one I had) had terrible edges... very mushy.
also, isn't one of the main reasons to use pentax the lenses?
if I wanted to use sigma lenses, I could use almost any other brand.... is it too much to ask for pentax optics and craftsmanship?

So how does the sigma 24 1.8 stack up against pentax's build and optical quality?
