Which hood to get for "Bokina"? (Vivitar 90mm f/2.5)

I'd like to get a lens hood for this lens, but I am not sure which kind to get. Does it matter? It takes 58mm filters. Must I get a screw-in hood or will a clip-in work as well?

I'd recommend the Hoya screw-in rubber hood. You can leave it attached and clip your lens cap to the outside lip of the hood (at least I was able to do that when I had one). It's actually way more convenient than the stock hoods most lenses have - no need to reverse it.

If you want an "official" hood, there are two Tokina options that I am aware of. There is a clip-on hood specifically embossed with the AT-X 90/2.5 Macro name. However, there is an identical hood embossed with the name of (and intended for the) AT-X 60-120/2.8. (However, I suppose that the latter is only a "semi-official" hood for the 90/2.5 - <g>.)

Of course, there is no functional need to use any such dedicated hood. And, in fact, when a 35mm FF lens is used on an APS-C DSLR, a longer hood is preferable.

However, the "official" Tokina hood does work very well, and it pleases the purist - <g>.
