K10D + HSM issues

Hi all, I am looking at getting a lens for sports photography, such as sigma 70-200 f2.8 DG Macro II HSM. Tried lens out at shop but autofocus failed to work. Found out the firmware had to be updated on the K10D to be able to use the HSM. Has anyone else had this issue? Any comments or info would be great.

K 10 D´s were shipped with an earlier firmware version. It needs to be updated to v 1.30.
Updating is a simple and straightforward operation. After this HSM/SDM should work fine.

How does one check to see if the firmware needs to be updated? (I bought my K10 used from KEH) The, ho doesone do it? Does it have be sent some where?

The camera will show the firmware version on the display if you turn it on while holding down the MENU button. The latest firmware version including SDM/HSM support is 1.30.
The firmware and instructions
for updating can be found from a couple of Pentax websites, for example Customer Support - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site

Its a piece of cake if you just follow the insructions carefully.

Thanks for that PePe, update was too easy to do and HSM lenses work fine now. Yeehaa!
tmacdon just follow what PePe said, thats all I did at the website.
