Let me make it easy on you...if you want to sell the FA24/f2 drop me an e-mail.

Thanks. I've been to Ennis a few times. Went past there to the Burren a few weeks back.

seeing someone's roadmap made me thing about posting my own, so here it is.

Note, my approach to LBA is to try and only get lenses (primes especially) that do something different i.e. FASTER than any zoom I have at that focal length. Primes are for specific uses including low light, and to play with, sooms form the basis of a travel kit.

the yellow indicates lenses I don't really use any more.

Ok, I need to make my road map but, I have 2 kits:
for my wife =
DA18-55
Tamron 70-300

for me=
Sigma 10-20
Sigma 24/2.8 AF (freshly aquired)
Pentax 31ltd
Pentax 40ltd
Pentax F50/1.7
Sigma 105 macro
Pentax K400/5.6

this year I closed the gap I had between 40 and 10-20 (31 came in February and 24 in May). That gives me several options for stron wide to short tele/portrait kit.
Now I have to close gap between 50 and 105 (I'm afraid I'm setting my eyes on 77ltd) for portraits, and I'd love to get 60-250 to complement my 400 for outdoor using.
Let's see, we're not even in the half year and I already blew my budget...

Has anyone here ever consolidated their lenses to a more streamlined collection? If so what did you go with? Any comments would be appreciated.
Yeah.

Three times now.

And I'm about to do it again - all in for the three FA Limiteds.

(Then I'll just buy all the K lenses back again )

Most definitely keep the Sigma 17-70. For general everyday stuff and travel, this is my most often used lens.

Since you mentioned shooting wildlife, the Bigma is a natural choice, but it wouldn't hurt to pick up a lightweight tele like the DA50-200 or DA53-300 for chasing the kids around with or for traveling.

After going on vacation, I've come to a renewed appreciation for my zooms. Since neither are that heavy, they're not hard to carry around in a smaller bag.

When choosing lenses for my kit, the most important thing for me is usefulness. I ask myself what a particular lens would lend to my kit and make my decision based on the answer to that question. There's also financial considerations to consider, as well, as I really can't afford to have expensive (but wonderful) lenses sitting around that I'm not using.

Finally, the less lenses you have, the less lenses you have to keep up with.

Simple is good.
