Originally posted by eyou I was wondering how fast and to what price do you think the newly released lens will get to. Ive seen the k20d only 1.5 years later is 1/2 the price. Obviously lenses don't go down that fast, and in canada i guess they went up

What do you think based on your experience?
DSLR camera bodies do not hold their value. They are, essentially, a short term replacable commodity, in much the same way that a home computer is.
Good lenses tend to hold their value better than bad ones, but a lens has no chance of appreciating if it is still in production.
Some of Pentax's better but discontinued lenses are fetching more than new price on the market right now, but this is cyclical. Five years ago, used Pentax lenses were practically being given away.
I have a feeling that the small circle lenses (DA, DAF, DA*, etc.) are not going to hold value all that well.
Personally, I think it's inevitable that Pentax will be forced to abandon APS-C format cameras in favour of 35mm frame sized cameras. When/if that happens, small circle lens values will drop faster than a whore's undies in front of a thousand dollar bill.
