Good idea!

Should they include to hack Pentax K200D and the previous model so these DSLR can have menu to do focus adjustment as Pentax K20D did. I thougt this feature is very important as many of us involved w/ manual lens and Pentax itself promote with the offer of backward compatibility

Cheers,

Because a lot of people feel the screw drive focuses faster? Not to mention that AF can still be used if the SDM motor fails.

It looks like you should say "when the SDM motor fails".

A year ago, when I posted that, "if" was quite acceptable. But now, you are correct, it's "when".

Is it a matter of money or getting the right codes. I'm not being cheap and would support this but wondering if the information is even available to pull it off without Fing up the camera. If it is possible and something goes wrong, can the firmware be reverted back to original with a genuine update or would the camera become a paperweight?

Canikon hacks seem common on other forums but I don't remember anyone doing this to a Pentax.

This was the only thing I recall hearing about https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/67897-pentax-firmw...=firmware+hack, but it seems to have been abandoned. Could never make any sense of what was going on with it anyway.

Just buy a *ist series, K100D (non-Super) or K110D body. Then you can take advantage of all the cheap used lenses out there with failed SDM.

It's been posted many times, it just doesn't work. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there's some combo of blocking off or shorting out contacts that would work, however that combo might be hard to figure out.
I did this sort of hack on a Pentax film camera, enabling the focus light, and beep when it's focused.
