Fools Rush In

Several decades of life have taught me to avoid early-production products, and typically, when I ignore this lesson (e.g. my K10D), I regret it. Still, you only live once, so today I ordered a DA 15, because . . . . . . . . . . well I just can't wait any longer. Crossing my fingers.

I ordered from Adorama a week ago and it is my new favorite object

Gorillapod on the fire escape, 5 second exposure @ f8

I showed that picture to a few people, and every single one of them commented on how sharp it is. They aren't camera people, they just say 'that looks expensive'.

Hand held down on the street @iso1600/f4 (K10D)

That last one isn't even a good pic I don't think.. but i like it for some reason.

Good for you, Jer! I believe regrets which come from doing are a whole lot better than the ones which stem from not doing--that's what living is about. Mrcrontab: these shots look great! Thanks for this post.

I already have this lens for 3 weeks but I had yet took any images from it.

Looking forward to your application of this lens!

Thanks for the comments, all, and to mrcrontab for the photos. I'm guessing the lens will be fine; also, it's coming from B&H, which does a masterful job of exchanging or refunding stuff.

Anyhow, this lens will give me the complete collection of DA Limiteds, which I use for about half my photography. It'll also be a nice, physically innocuous wide angle compliment to my DA 18-250.

I'll post some examples, applying my usual artistic flair , when the thing comes.

Now you're going to have to get one of these.. or two of them

Sadly, this case sealed the deal for the 15mm instead of 12-24mm. Props to Pentax USA for the idea.

The 15,35, and 77 will fit nice and snug.

You and I are on the same wavelength. I bought one of these two or three weeks ago.

Jer, your boat will look absolutely fine with that lens! Now what you need is a new 'chute so you can test how wide the new lens is!

I like your logic, old buddy . . . . but my wife won't. We had a chute on our previous boat, and she purposely sent the kids below when we hoisted, dropped or jibed it in order to limit their exposure the foul language that I would issue whenever I dealt with that #$%@&^ sail. Still, when it was set and drawing, it was a thing to behold and would be wonderful to photograph with a DA 15 or with my DA 10-17 FE.
