Hi all, looking to upgrade to a better lens for motorsport. Have been looking at these two lenses (sigma 70-200 hsm II) and (tamron 70-200Di ld (if) macro) and a teleconverter as well. Anyone have any recommendations regarding this. I am not after a prime lens at the moment (even though I'd love one).

I'm interested in this as well, although general consensus seems to be that Sigma offers the faster AF and the Tamron has a little more optical quality. But any more opinions would be nice. I have the DA* 300 which is great, nice and quick AF. But it can be a bit long on the tracks I go to. I've been looking at the 70-200 from Sigma and Tamron, as well as the DA* 200 and 60-250.

For the limited amount of use (Sigma 70200 f/2.8 HSM APO)I was guilty of leaving and not checking ISO(Over 800)at a recent meet WSID where Top fuellers where in action.Did a decent job as the cars where coming toward me.Would recommended the speed(Sigma's) over the Tamron.Would also benefit from a more steady habds than mine

Well have finally bitten the bullet and purchased the Sigma. So will give it a work out on some fast movers over the next few weeks.
