Lens Choice

I'm getting ready to purchase either the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 or the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8. I read a bunch of reviews on both and it's still a tossup. Most say the auto focus on the Sigma is way better but the picture quality of the Tamron is a little better. I'm basically getting this lens to shoot horse shows. The auto focus is a real concern since it will be a lot of fast moving shots such as jumps and running horses. I have the Pentax DA* 50-135mm and the DA* 300mm but I need something in between. I can't spend the bucks for the DA* 60-250 and I really need a f/2.8. Any suggestions between the Sigma and the Tamron or something else in that price, $800?

You'd be hard pressed to find anything comparing to these two stellar fast telezooms in price or performance. And although I've not used these, I'm not sure there will be much appreciable difference between them.

Or would you consider the DA* 200?

I'd rather stay away from a fixed focal lenth plus I already have a 200 F/4 Takumar.

I have the tamrom 70-200 D. I Makro Lens it is extremely sharp and in body autofocus is probably as quick as HSM. In body autofocus is a bit noisy but reliable also the first lens I got was a dud the second lens is absolutely stellar, comparable if not better than my DA* 300 so good luck and shoot all the horses!!!!
