Got this lens fairly recently and I must say I'm very impressed. Even so, that I'm probably going to sell my M135/3,5. After removing the Ricoh pin, the lens communicates perfectly, feels great on my K20 and the focusing is very easy.

But the sharpness, contrast and bokeh....makes me wonder why this lens isn't a legend of its own...

I know this is an old thread. Regarding the problem the OP was having, it basically comes down to 2 primary things when in the macro mode (which is really just close focus). That is focus distance and focus. I tripod on focus rail comes in handy whether this lens or any other macro from Tammy 90mm, Viv Series 1 etc.

Well, I've had this lens for a few months. Overall, I like it...a LOT.

Its only downside is the don't shoot tree all.

Sharp in the "standard" mode...soft in the "marco" modes. 2 lenses in one.

Macro mode...probably f/4

Ryan, that's a really nice example of the soft mode. They say the CA are pretty much gone by F8. I had an opportunity to test it at an outdoor concert. Mostly shot at 5.6 and ISO 1600, this lens definitely deserves more love than it gets
