Received my DA 40mm from B&H. Everything looks good, until I notice a soft click when I turn the focus ring. The click happens right between the 5ft and 1m mark. The soft click is audible and there is a tiny bit of resistance when I turn the focus ring past that mark. Doesn't seem to affect the auto or manual focus though. It works well otherwise and I love the lens.
Anyone experienced anything similar to 40mm or other lenses? Can't imagine that this can be normal, so I think I have to return it. But it is a pain to do the return or exchange with mail order, even more so when I am in Canada. Anyway to avoid getting hit twice by the tax and custom?
This lens was out of stock everywhere I looked in Canada, that's why I have paid a little bit more to get it from B&H. I am debating whether to ask for an exchange, or a refund and wait for it to be in stock in Canada.
I am just wary that a second copy from B&H could have other problem. This type of overseas back and forth could get more and more expensive each time.
