DA 35mm LTD - BUI (bought under the influence)

I just bought a DA 35mm LTD from ProDigital on eBay for $399.00, free shipping to the US. Kind of an impulse buy. Probably it's the Cuba Libre's I have been sipping since the past hour. The 16-45mm almost put me off from my amateur photography. Got stuck with a lemon, poor auto-focusing, soft all through and not a Pentax service center in sight where I live. Have been contemplating the 35 for a long time but never really went as far as hitting the "Buy it now" button. Let's see how it turns out.

You made a good choice. I guarantee you it will look just as good in the morning as it did the night before.

Fantastic lens, and a very good price for a new copy. Nice work!

My DA35 Ltd has turned out to be one of my useful lenses. I love the focal length and the ability to do macro if needed.

I also bought on an impulse but I have no regrets at all. It's a keeper.

The only time it comes off is if I need wider with the DA21 or longer with a DA70 or DA*50-135.

I'm bad, i've got more lenses than any a rational person should have, but the DA*35 stands out as a special lens, even i can see that. Its images have a distinctive quality about them.

Some folks have said that they didn't know how to categorize the lens, not a true macro, not a true street lens, i don't worry about categorizing, i just enjoy taking images with it.

Because of the macro capabilities of the lens, the images seem very accurately focused to me, allowing a lot of cropping. So on a street image, you don't need to accurately frame a person, you can crop down to that person or detail later.

Of the lenses i use the most, its:

DA*35, FA 50 f1.4, M 135 f3.5, Tamron 18-250, DA300, Sigma 10-20, DA21

You'll enjoy it, i'm sure,

Well said. For folks who really want a macro lens, a longer focal length would probably be more useful. But as a general purpose lens that doesn't have any close focusing limitation the DA35 is wonderful.
