DA* 50-135mm F2.8 City worthiness...

Gonna get my DA 50-135mm F2.8 soon, but would anyone say this is a good lens for taking shots around the city for day and night?

that depends on you and what focal length you like to use for taking shots around the city.

It'll be just as good as any other lens. It really depends on how you use it.

It's a good focal length, though when it was the only lens I had for a while, I missed some nice wide angle shots for my city walks.

here is my 2 cents about city shots.
most important you need to know your lens, and know what the camera is going to see even before you put your eye on the view finder you can do it with any lens just take a little practice .
but zooms usually not ideal unless you keep it on one focal length.

this lens will be good for portrait, in a crowded street be prepared to have a lot of cut out people missing legs arms and so on

I would probably keep this lens on around the 50mm for most of the time on the city.

50-135 AKA 70-200 range is a very very useful range for other stuff like concerts , portrait , sport and so on. and this lens is a very good one.

but for street I would recommend one of Pentax prime lenses, and if you want a zoom I would get the 16-50 instead. especially if you want to include tall buildings in your shots

I have been looking at this lens, but there seems to be some quality issues... other than that this looks to be a great lens.

I think you'll find the vast majority of the quality problms reported with the 16-50 were from well over a year ago, and by all accounts, things are much better now.

Good to hear, I just hope that when I get one, it's not one from the back of the shelf... one of those "old" copies.
