thats terrible, but lovely at the same time. the curse of the 31?

Only had mine for a couple of weeks and it is one fantastic lens.

I have the FA77 but I shoot mainly wide so the FA31 is rapidly becoming my favourite. I would die for a 16 or 18mm of the same build and image quality.

My line up: Zenitar 16mm 2.8, FA28mm 2.8, Sigma 24-60mmF2.8, F50mmF1.7 , FA100mm F2.8 Macro, FA135mm 2.8 , DA*200mmF2.8 & A* 300mm F4. Just sold my Tamron 90mm macro Di SP F2.8 - a great macro. But still with 5 yrs of warranty left. So it is sold a lot easier than my old heavy FA100mmF2.8 macro.

yeah I agree, an 18mm f/2.8 lens would be wonderful especially if it can cover FF so then it can used on film cameras. however, as a consequence of a f/2.8 aperture a lens like that would be a brick... but aspheric lenses would help keep the size down, especially if they used ED glass the same way they did in the 31LTD..

my lens line up is FA31, Pentax K50mm f/1.2, FA77 and a sigma 100-300 f/4 APO - I have been working with this reduced lens kit for some time now and I haven't had any complaints. in fact it was more of a chore to haul along 9 lenses from 20mm to 300mm - the sigma zoom certainly cuts down on my need for extra glass, and it's quality is superb...though it's bokeh can be a bit disturbing.

I take my hat off to you for being able to get by like that.

I love my primes and now especially the FA31 limited, but I had purchased the 2 x DA* zooms prior to my limiteds. The DA*16-50 is a great zoom and I use it mainly at the wide and very rarely at 50mm and I am happy with the quality and it was the reason I held back for a year before caving in for the FA31, but would give that lens up without blinking if there was an FA 16 or 18 limited.

I don't like zoom lenses, they just don't do it for me...sure they are great for quick work, or in situations where you need to get the framing perfect on-the-spot. but I prefer primes, not only for their sheer resolution...but because of their sheer speed.

I admit it, I use the 50mm f/1.2 more than I use my FA Limiteds...it's just a fantastic lens that has continually surprised me with it's stunning performance....Especially it's bokeh

There have been a lot of Pentax K 50mm f1.2's popping up for sale lately. Usually around the $350 range. This is a pretty good deal, especially compared to when the A pops up for sale, it's usually $550 or higher. I don't feel the A setting is worth $200 more, though.

My rule on 35mm lenses is that I need a body to go with each lens. I do not like storing lenses, I like them ready to go. Right now, I have exactly the same amount of lenses as bodies, so if I get another lens, either I get another body, or sell a lens I'm not using as much.

I see them on fbay all the time but people always bid them up too high for what they are worth. I'd like a fast one at least a 55mm 1.8 But 60 or 70 dollars is too much for a lens that looks as bad as most of the ones I've seen people bidding on.
