Before the weekend I would have considered selling this lens (I sent a PM to the OP) but after using it while having a little break on Rottnest I've decided that it's too good to let go.

Definitely worth grabbing if you get a chance

[snip] So I got the Sigma 24 F1.4 instead and have been very happy with it. But I like the FA 20 mm so much better, as it is much much smaller and the ergonimics are better and it's mostly sharper. The Sigma is a better low light lens tho.

NaCl(would be loath to part with either, but certainly the 24 before the 20)H2O
I'm in the same situation as you, Salty (I assume you meant the Sigma 24mm f/1.8, not f/1.4).

Pentax's low light alternative (FA* 24 f/2) is pretty big and has a similar AF-to-MF push-pull switching mechanism, as well. These fast wide lenses beg for a full-frame digital Pentax body (that focuses accurately in low light)--or to be used on film.

Creampuff, I have both the FA 20mm F2.8 and the FA 20-35mm F4 zoom and I have to disagree with you about stopping down to f4.
+1
Here are a few pictures taken wide open with the FA 20/2.8:

As you can see, sharpness is more than adequate, even wide open. And the big advantage of an F/2.8 lens over an F/4 lens is err... that it's F/2.8 -- for when stopping down to F/4 is simply not an option! I also have the FA 20-35/4 and I find the 20/2.8 much better at F/2.8 than the 20-35 at F/4...

Cheers!

Anyone know which lens has the least barrel distortion? The FA 20, FA 24, DA 21, Sigma 24 or Sigma 20?

This lens has never been cheap, even when Pentax was still producing it. As this is the case with most super wides, it never sold in large numbers, making it an instant collectors item when Pentax discontinued it. I bought it two years ago from a Japanese seller and the price was over $500.

Cheers!
