Loving my DA40 Limited

Guys
Just want to say thx for the advice. Loving my DA40. Sharp as hell, focuses fast, is tiny on the camera, but also I prefer the way it renders compared to my FA501.4.

Did some quick shots for you:

Handheld wide open...RAW image untouched - checking for Edge Sharpness

Before Dinner: Hand held, tungsten lighting - Wide open at ISO1000 RAW
Name: IMGP9316SML.jpg

Size: 56.5 KB

After Dinner: Hand held, tungsten lighting - Wide open at ISO1000 RAW Name: IMGP9317SOOC.jpg
Views: 987
Size: 54.8 KB

There's also a mugshot on my flickr site if you want to see what shooting with DA40 at F5 does to a portrait!

Paul - had no idea you were on PF as well! Very cool...and you had to go and post these shots...did you really sell the 50? or did you decide to keep and just tuck away for a bit?

Its on ebay now, item: 280354670266

with 34 watchers....had to also sell my Pentax M 135mm.

(only way I can justify my outlays to my wife is to ensure that upgrades are zero cost....otherwise she's gonna want that Prada handbag)

This is definitely the prime I would have if I could only have one prime. It would be followed by the FA77 ltd.

The DA 40mm is one of the best limited lens for it's price. Super compact, light weight, sharp and nice rich color. I got mine around $200, but it's recent price has doubled.

yep, probably the lens I use the most; and it's the lens that every one ask me about, and they all are "flabbergasted" about the size of it.

Just out of curiosity, how did you get iso 1000 on the k20d? Or is that a typo for 100..

it is ISO1000 - you set the ISO increments to 1/3 stops instead of 1/2... its in a custom menu I think.

You are so right. Had a lot of fun with it yesterday on a visit in Wangen. A little town in the Allgäu (south of germany). The winter sun is very low at that afternoon time so I made a lot "roof pics"...

100% Crop

With the K7 the DA40 is a perfect match!

Like your last shot with the sun pouring in behind the accordian player.

I just sent a DA40mm back that had too much front focus but i wasnt happy with its performance even when focus was achieved.
