Is Pentax the only brand with an "A" setting on its lenses?

If so, someone might be interested in this:
Tokina 300mm 1:2.8 Lens AT-X SD - eBay (item 190313653804 end time Jun-14-09 20:16:38 PDT)

(someone with a lot more cash on-hand than me)

I can't say if it's definitely for Pentax, but it's a manual focus lens, I think... the version after this is the AT-X 300 AF, which became AF.

And, well, a 300/2.8 MF lens is just not as lust-worthy as an AF lens.

I can only guess that it's a Nikon mount. If you look the little red dot for lining up the lens is on the wrong side for Pentax.

I'd say it's Canon FD - ascending numbering from left to right and "A" on the right (as opposed to left on pentax)

Canon FD would explain why it hasn't been snatched yet :-DD One of the most useless mounts in the age of DSLRs.

BTW, I have to say I'm a bit bothered by the seller's lack of transparency here; surely they must know that the most telling part of the lens regarding what it can be mounted on is the mount itself? So, why not show a picture of the mount, close-up?

Instead, in all the pictures they have, they leave the cap on. I wonder if they're doing that on purpose, hoping some sucker would snatch it, who might be thinking "Worst case scenario, I could attach it to my Canon with a mount adapter" :-P

I think its for the nikon mount...??? I guess i'll find out after I got it to see if it fits on my k20d (thought i read somewhere on this forum that older nikon lenses fit to pk mount) if not i'll sell all my gears (digital, i'll keep the 645 and 3 67's or maybe two 67s) and get a D700...which I should've done from the beginning...

edit: hmmm canon mount??? damn i'm fked up it is that...shouldn't have bought stuff when i'm drunk....

Did you already pay? If not, just don't pay, and neg with the seller; the worst that could happen as a buyer is you get one unpaid item strike. I hate to say this, since, from a seller's viewpoint, buyers that do that would piss me off to no end, but, I'm also a firm believer in 100% transparency and honest item descriptions (which is why my items rarely get bid up real high), and there's just something about this listing that reeks of disingenuousness.

it is Canon FD. without a doubt. completely useless my friend, sorry to say. and you will have a very hard time reselling I think. because we all know the FD mount is obsolete except to film users.

In response to the question in your subject line: No. I have 2 Vivitar lenses (actually I just sold one yesterday in the marketplace) with the A setting in Pentax mount.

It is indeed Canon FD. One can tell because of the breech-locking ring behind the aperture ring.

And for the record, I believe FD lenses will mount on 4/3rds bodies--for a 600mm 1:2.8 equivalent.

What I meant was "mount," not brand. I.e., "are Pentax-mount lenses the only ones with an "A" setting?"

(Obviously this lens is a Tokina and has an "A" setting.)

That lens is worth $100 tops; considering the mount.
