It'll compare like apples and oranges, is how. For the wider lens, 16mm gives a 73 degree field of view and 28mm is only 46 degrees.

I have the Tamron 28-75 lens for my Canon Kit...It is one of the most incredible lenses I have ever used at any price. I sold my Canon 28-70 after using the Tamron. As I said earlier, my only regret is I don't have it for my Pentax Kit...It won the prestigious "EISA" award 2005 for best lens of the year..."It resides in my "Brutally Sharp" lens category.

The only think that I feel like I am missing out on is a little bit of the wide end (why I am looking at the 16-50 and 16-45), but I might get a 12-24 or something to cover that.
Yep, I vote the Pentax 12-24. I'd love one - but it's really hard to justify when you've got the 16-45.

Yeah that is what I keep looking at too, I can get the 16-45 for about half of the 12-24 and I really like what I see from the 16-45 so I am tempted by that despite the overlap with the 28-75 and not being quite as wide at the wide end.

That's my issue.. I have the Tamron 28-75 as well.. and would *love* the 50-135mm.. but is it too much overlap? Do I really need it? Especially at the prices they're going to go for.. errrg.

I'm almost tempted to just wait for the 60-240mm f/4

It seems that 50-135 is another beast itself. The common problem of doing street candids is the speedy capture. Most of pentax primes are quite slow even with Da 70 IMHO. I would love this zoom for a all round street walk lens.

16-50 also overlaps with a lot of primes. Despite the good words regarding tamron 28-75mm f2.8, it is quite hard not to grab 16-50 f2.8. You are a very capable photographer, so this would seem like a dilemma since it is the talent and luck that matters in photography. I am only suppplementing the skill insufficiency with some sharp glasses with rich colour (otherwise all my shots would be dull)

It is hard not to grab pentax Da* glasses going for the 3rd party lenses ...
