Smc pentax-m 50mm 1:1.7

I have just seen this lens (2cd hand I presume) on Ebay for $255 AUD. Is this a good buy?

No, that's way overpriced for an M50/1.7. Check the marketplace for a way better price for the M or the A version. The M normally goes for $40-50 and the A for $50-65 depending on condition.

Cheers

But once you see what your photos look like with this lens you'll wonder why it's so cheap!

All pentax fifities are way underpriced for its IQ imo, especially the manual focus ones (not including DA 55, but that has its own use).

Way over-priced. There are still lots of them floating around.

I picked up my M50/1.7 a couple of years ago for $34 US at a local camera shop. I'd rate it just behind my SMC Tak50/1.4 for image quality. I'm not so fond of my M50/2 however so I wouldn't say it's an undervalued lens today.

Those lenses are everywhere. You stand about a 25% chance that the Pentax camera at the thrift store has it attached. $30.00 no problem to find it.

Yeah, but the MX was the top of the line Pentax 35mm SLR, at some point.
