Rokinon MF 85mm f/1.4 first test

I just received the Rokinon MF 85mm f/1.4 today from Cameta for $254.95 + $12 (UPS Ground). I took some shots at F1.4 and it looks good for a low cost 85mm light bucket. Here are my first shots with my *ist DS2 with available light from a window on a cloudy day.

face full of Gerber peaches at F1.4 1/500 sec 200 iso

this one at F1.4 1/250 sec 200 iso in the same light

our dog buster in dim room light at F1.4 1/20 sec (all handheld ,no SR in DS2) and 200 iso

Looks like you got your $255 worth and then some. I didn't know Rok made regular optics also besides the reflex lens. Learn something new every time I check in.

how about a photo of the lens. Also is it an "A" lens?

I bet all of the 85mm F1.4 MF lenses from Korea are the same as far as optics. Yes it's an A lens.

Thanks for posting the info on this lens. I had seen this for sale a lot and wondered about the quality. Looks like it is a definitely a nice alternative to the FA or A 85mm, which costs 4 times as much.

Great Shots Jogiba,

You have a future beauty queen on your hands. Cool find on the lens too.

I can't wait for my pre-ordered K-7 to show up so I could take some HD videos of her. Since you can't use AF in video mode the 85mm F1.4 will get alot of use. I also have the 1.7x Pentax AF adapter coming that will make it a 145mm F2.38 AF lens.

the price keeps getting lower and lower down somewhat from when I bought my vivitar, but that's life.

I have found this a little soft wide open, but that is what I bought it for. Also (but you really have to pixel peep) has a little CA.

It works well with the 1.7x AF TC.

Due to the added flexibility it may replace my SMC 135 F2.5 in my light weight travel kit.

for shots with this lens please see below:

and for a 100% crop

with the 1.7x see the link below

I agree, it looks like the 1.7x AF adapter works great with it.
