The K 135-600mm f6.7 is a beast I have never seen in person. I wouldn't mind getting my grubby paws on a K version of the tele 1000mm because of the smc coating.

People might have some luck looking at the Vivitar 135/1.5...if one was so inclined Somone on another forum just got one, although no price was mentioned. I can only imagine there's a couple lonely, unsold f/1.5s out there that no one has tried to sell and has forgotten about.

Like finding a car parked in a barn for 25 years...imagine how many un-loved, spectacular lenses are out there...somewhere...

...covered in fungi...

That's often the case. Chances are if they don't know how good a lens it is, they don't know how to look after it. Although less of a problem in some areas than other.

In Arizona, not a problem. In Florida, a BIG problem!

I'm surprised so many, they could not have been very cheap for the time.

Now I just need to find the OEM tripod...
They were among the cheapeast fast super-telephoto lenses on the market - apart from these el cheapo clones (500/8). The list price of 1995 in Germany was 4700 DM (something below 3000 USD at the time, I guess) and you could find it considerably cheaper in store (I remember seeing one for app. 2500 DM or perhaps 1500 USD).

I believe both the A* 200/4 Macro and the FA* 200/4 Macro is even more rare; especially the latter.
The exotic super telephotos are certainly the rarest Pentax lenses....
Totally agree. FA 200 Macro is absolutely most rare lens you will use daily. It's so difficult to find even you have the deep pocket.

All Pentax 'specialist' lenses, as wel as all very long and very short focal lengths are rare.
But from the mainstream lenses, I think that the SMC-A 28-80 zoom is pretty rare.
Also the 35-210 zoom is not very common.
