Rarest Pentax lens.

Aside from special issues, like that insane 50mm 1.2 that comes with the LX special edition, I would have to say the A 135mm f1.8 is just about one of the hardest normal production lenses to find. Not to mention that when you do, it will bust a hole in your bank account. It's probably the least seen lens for me in the past 12 years on ebay.

A*1200mm is a rare/expensive one as well. I can't remember where I saw it but someone said finding one is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The K 8.4mm f2.8 fish eye is rare and barely beyond proto type. The K 15mm f3.5 is somewhat rare but can be found however the K15mm f3.5 AL is rare. The A 16mm f2.8 fish eye is either rare or so expensive that most opt for the Zenitar lens. The M and K 2000mm f13.5 almost never turn up but damn they are slow. The A* 600mm don't turn up a lot used either nor does the 400mm f2.8 and require a car loan when they do. There are several of the K series that aren't necesarily rare but people hang on to them. There are some M42 taks that are less than common such as the 18mm fisheye that doesn't even require focusing it is so flat and makes the DA 40mm look like a heavy lens.

I was just going to say that the rarest lens is the one you're trying to find on eBay!

I guess among the rarest is the Ultra-Achromatic Takumar 300/5.6, which's colour correction extends far into UV and it ios thus a classic for scientific photography. I have seen it only once or twice on ebay over the last five or more years...

What about the 35mm/1.4? Only five sold, per Bojidar's site.

I would LOVE one. Even if it weren't rare.

How rare is the SMC version of the 85/1.9? I know the super-tak version is common as dirt, but I haven't seen many of the SMC version around...

I bought the A* 135/1.8 for $200 in the mid 90's when Pentax was deeply out of fashion and Pentax lenses was "impossible" to sell (the seller I bought it from had tried to sell it for a year along with an equally unsellable 20/2.8). I sold the lens in 2002 for $1400 to Japan....

I believe both the A* 200/4 Macro and the FA* 200/4 Macro is even more rare; especially the latter.
The exotic super telephotos are certainly the rarest Pentax lenses....

FA* 80-200 2.8. I've been drooling over this and I thought I would get one under a 1,000.
