Another "help me choose" thread....

I took a short sabbatical from photography too study for a big test I had at work recently. now that the test is all said and done, i'm back to concentrating on photography. here's my dilemma.

I've waited for the 60-250 for a long time, as i don't have a long lens at all. I like to hike and travel the national parks, and do some sport shooting from time to time ( LaCrosse, baseball). But what i love doing most is going into NYC or Boston, and just shooting some street stuff. I want a long lens for obvious reasons with the park stuff, and feel it would beneficial and less intrusive to people for the street stuff.

I've narrowed it down to three lenses:

pentax 60-250
Sigma 70-200
sigma 100-300.

I have read the reviews on all, and each has things I like. Weight isn't a big deal for me. Can some of you with experience with one, or all of these lenses maybe point me in the right direction? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks...

That's hard to decide. The Sigma 100-300 and the Pentax 60-250 have both f/4 and a similar focal range. For street photography I would prefer the Pentax, because sometimes the 100mm minimum fl of the Sigma would be too much already. For nature/wildlife I'ld probably go with the Sigma, for the 50mm extra reach.

I myself use the Sigma 70-200/2.8 and simply love it. Together with the 1.4x tc it covers a similar range to the 100-300, but without the tc it is a full f-stop faster. And as I love the blue hours for photography, this lens is absolutely useful. IQ loss, due to the tc is completely negligible. So, I find this combination to be the most versatile of these three lenses.
