Is there a T/C planned for SDM lenses?

Just wondering...

DA*200 + 1.4T/C looks more flexible to me than the DA*300 alone...

I agree, and if a 1.4 TC were available now, I would buy this combo and hope for a 400 F4 for the extreem tele needs, which of course would work with the 1.4 TC also.

Pentax trotted out a proto-type and then seemed to stick it somewhere. I'm also considering a DA 200mm + TC instead of the DA 300mm due to the f4 constraints on the later. I am wondering how well the Kenko 1.5X tele would work on the DA 200.

Alex, you don't need to wait for this one. Tamron 1.4x TC AF works perfectly well with SDM lenses as it has two contacts for SDM drive. It has been designed many years ago to fit Pentax's power zooms. I have 3 SDM's: 16-50, 50-135 and 200 and all work well with Tamron TC with no appreciable degradation of the image quality. The ability of this TC to work with SDM lenses was one of the three reasons I chose 200 over 60-250. The other two were size and price.
The Tamron TC instantly turns 200 into 280 with a loss of one f-stop.

Hi alexeyga,

I use a DA*200 with a 1.7X adapter and the results are fantastic. Gives me a 340mm f/4.5. The DA*200 has fantastic IQ and sometimes, when the conditions are good, I have a hard time telling the difference between the two. I think you should definetly consider this option.
