closest in terms of range would be the 17-70mm, but it is also f4. Having the 4/3 sensor give Olympus the possibility to have some great compact lenses, the 12-60mm truly is one of them. It is getting into the ultra-wides that the 4/3 system struggles (well, there are options, and they cost beaucoup de bank!).
I recently came into an essentially free panasonic L1 (bought 2 at ritz, sold one and recouped the cost). I was seriously tempted to jump ship, as the kit panny/leica 14-50mm f2.8-3.5 was a great lens. I'm just not a kit-range kind of shooter (as you can see by my sig), and after looking at the 4/3 lens lineup I just couldn't convince myself it was worth it to dump pentax (ultra wides for 4/3 are very expensive compared to pentax equivalents). then I also remembered just how great the k20d was after I returned to it (from shooting w/the L1 for several weeks) and am glad I stuck with it (keeping the L1 body and olympus 70-300 for telephoto needs, as that amount of reach is occasionally needed - and the L1 with a 4/3 to K to m42 adapter makes it a great fit with my 50mm macro tak).
With the 17-70 I don't really see a 16-80 happening for pentax (or even something alittle longer at the tele range), especially not at f2.8, which would eat into both the 16-50 and 50-135.
