28-80mm lens, Max-aperture?

Lens info page, for reference: Pentax Lens Review Database - 28-80mm F3.5-4.5

I'm using PENTAX *ist D, and noticed that with my 28-80mm F3.5-4.5 shows up as an F4 constant! Now, I wouldn't complain for the extra brightness just wondering if it really is an F4 constant lens?

On the barrel it is clearly written F3.5-4.5. However, I am able to take pictures at F4 at any focal length---it records in EXIF, and is visible in both LCD screens on the camera. I'm not able to get to F3.5, at least that's what the info shows. I am able to stop down to F22 no matter the focal length.

What I would like to know, if anyone else has this lens---can you check if it also behaves as F4 constant? Just curious.

It's a great lens though, perhaps slightly better than 18-55mm II.
