Looks as if Pentax has offically renamed the DA* line to DA Star

I was just looking up to refresh myself on which lenses are in the DA* line and discovered that the Pentax site no longer names them using the * character. Instead they use the actual word 'Star'.

Camera Lens - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site

To my thinking that is a smart change as it probably seriously buggers searching for the any of the 'star'/'*' lenses, you know, in that the * is a wildcard for matching in most search engines making it almost impossible to actually search for the character.

Just thought it was interesting and probably another sign of the whole Hoya thing...

Someone probably told them that IT professionals and programmers refer to the "*" character as "splat".

How does this sound:
DA Splat

The introduction to "Pentax lenses" still puts it as DA*.

what is it about the internet that brings out a person's "inner nit picker"? TOilet trained at gun point? I dunno and stopped trying to figure it out a decade ago.

YES they missed ONE but note that is it a GRAPHIC or WebDing sort character not a asterisk...I mean if you want to be completely accurate about it...

Looks like there are a few different definitions for splat:

See: splat and splat-out

So if we are German, I wonder if this means something:

"Splat ist DS"

HAHAHAHA...priceless!! I needed a good chuckle today. I was smacked down with the DNS problems Verizon is having and could only access a handful of sites since around 6AM. So thanks for that one!!

BTW, my first offical position as a devloper some mumble-mumble years back we did a lot of dBase development, a small app with 180,000 lines of code between 2-developers (underpaid of course...hehehehe) with THOSE old tools...what fun!! But in dBase the @ was used constantly and we just adopted 'splat' when reading each others code looking for probs or potential issues...
