Should i leep my DA 21mm/F3.2 ?

If I get Sigma 17-70mm/F2.8-4.5, should I still need to keep my DA 21mm/F3.2

Any suggestion ?

The obvious answer is that, no, you should not keep your DA 21/3.2, but rather you should mail it to me. ;-)

Yes, keep the DA 21, unless you find that you never use it, in which case you should sell it to raise cash for other stuff you would use. The size of the DA 21 might make it desirable at some point. The image quality is probably superior to the Sigma @ 21mm. It might be a more enjoyable lens to use.

I often prefer using a prime lens because it helps my photography by forcing me to think about the image more than about the camera.

I love my DA 21mm and wouldn't trade it for anything; small, compact, and great pic quality!

If you're a zoom person who doesn't mind a sore back from lugging around the big sigma all day, dump it.

If you're a prime person who appreciates the exquisite quality of the Limited line, and likes the small form factor and great optics, keep it.

In total agreement with this one. Even if I purchased a Tamron 17-50 (which I've been kinda eyeing for a bit... .sort of), I'd keep the DA21 F3.2

It's a lens with a lot of character that I don't think you can find in any other lens. I've taken some incredible pictures with it. And also, it's very very light to carry around.

Keep it unless you have a pressing need to turn into cash for bills or food on the table. I just got a good copy of the 16-50, but will still use the 21 for some purposes when IQ is paramount over other considerations, or when my arm is tired.

i will offer a dissenting view then. take your sigma and pentax do a lens comparison. most likely the results will be pretty close. in that case, the only reason to keep the DA21 is the size and "niceness" of the limited lens.

i moved mine on, really not anything special about that lens to me.

Keep it. +1
I just finished a cruise trip to Alaska. Most of my pictures are shot with 21mm and 77mm. I left my 17-70 at home. As JonPB said, prime lenses help to improve our photography skills. In addition, they force your legs to move around.

The size makes it a keeper no matter what. A DA21 and a DA40 makes a terrific ultralight combo, or for just a few more ounces but adding low light capability, pair it with a 43mm. The 40 and 43 are so sharp a stop or two down, that they can be cropped to do the work of a longer lens. I've shot all day traveling with just those two and not felt too badly deprived.
