Show me your DA*300 + 2x teleconverter images

Hi

Title says it all, Show me your DA*300 + 2x teleconverter images.

Seems there are a lot of DA*300 with 1.4x teleconverter. What about with the 2x teleconverter ?

Subjects can be everything, birding, sports etc.

Thanks in advance.

Songbird with 300 and 2x TC

Here you go. Small songbird, handheld, Pentax A 2x-s TC and DA*300; cropped about 50%. A lucky shot mind you. I was actually just working on some exposure issues and just happened to capture this.

Cheers,

Andrew

Thanks. The 2X works handheld but the keeper rate is very low when cropped like this. Not surprising, I guess, given that it would be something like 1200mm equivalent focal length? Still, nice to know you can do it in a pinch. Looking forward to some more time with a monopod/tripod to see how high a keeper rate I can manage.

Wouldn't that make a 900mm equivalent (300 X 2 X1.5 = 900)?

1200mm

It'd be 900mm if we were looking at the whole frame as taken from the camera, but the shot we're looking at is cropped even further.

Cheers,

Andrew

Small Hawk with DA*300 and 2X-S

Another bird sample, again cropped by about 50%. This guy was sitting at the very top of the tree as the sun was setting. Again handheld. Even the 100% crop on this image was actually pretty good.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi

Taking advantage of this thread I would like to know if this specific teleconverter
(https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/sold-items/56201-sale-sold-tamron-2x-mc7-af-tc.html) is supposed to work with the DA*300/4.

I mean, (not with SDM but) with screw.

I'm asking because this teleconverter with tamron 70-200 2.8 works perfectly (screw drive of course) but with my DA*300 (arrived today) only works on MF no SDM and not screw drive.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

300 X 2 = 600 / .5 (50% crop) = 1200

50% more is X 1.5 pixels
50% less is X 2 magnification
