Any info about Pentax SMCP-FA 28-90mm

I don't find information that talk about this lens. It looks like an inexpensive lens like the kit lens. And I like the range for casual walkaround lens for learning dslr with kit lens

Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto SMCP-FA 28-90mm f/3.5-5.6 AL Autofocus Lens (Pentax-27697) - PriceGrabber.com

Anyone has any information about this lens?

Thanks,
Hin

Hi HinMan:

I never liked this lens. It's really soft wide open and not very well built.
Ebay has stacks of them for pretty cheap. It's not all that great, at least that's what I found,,,

I have an older smc F 28-80mm f3.5-4.5 thats nice and sharp, if you get one used make sure it's the smc version.

This was a kit lens for film cameras - at least that's how I got mine for next to nothing. While not solidly built (it even has a plastic mount) I have only good experience with the picture quality. In backlight situations you have to watch out for lens flare - the lens comes with no hood.

Of course it's not terribly satisfying to handle such a plasticky lens, and after I got the FA 24-90 the 28-90 serves no purpose for me anymore.

I picked one up on eBay for $20 because I didn't yet have an autofocus lens and I didn't have a lot to spend after buying the K100D body. The image quality is fine, but it does feel really cheap in the hand. Perfectly serviceable as a dirt cheap walk around lens. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better bargain in an AF zoom, in my opinion.
