Its more of a matter of "pixel peeping". They don't want 'unoffical' images taken with the star lenses while in 'preproduction' just incase. Like the lighting at the booth is not optimal and if you taken a photo that is not considered 'optimal', it 'may' have an impact on future sales since everyone is so deeply interested in its performance.

Too bad there isn't a PMA show in Chicago or New York (which is closer than Las Vegas).

If anyone else will be going this week, it'd be nice to know if and how much the 16-50 extends when at 50mm and focused to macro. It's apparently quite large even at its smallest setting and looks like it could become rather unwieldy for a standard zoom it it extended much. Hopefully this is against the nature of SDM lenses, but it'd certainly be nice to have this confirmed.
