Hi all,
For those who read Chinese, someone did a very thorough test between Sigma 18-50/2.8 DC EX Macro, Tamron SP AF 17-50/2.8 and Tokina ATX 16-50/2.8 and post it here:

For those who don't read Chinese, you can probably work out what they are comparing/testing by looking at the photos. Or you can probably run it thru some online translator program.
The tests are conducted on Nikon cameras.
Here are some of the conclusions.
Tokina:
- widest angle of all three
- images usable at wide-open aperture but need to watch out for CA
- the tester didn't like the built quality or the way you change from AF to MF by shifting the focus ring. He/she reckoned Pentax has a better built quality/feel. (Hmm.. I hope I got that translated right)
Tamron:
- lightest
- centre sharpness is best of the three
- light falling off at the edge is a little worse than the other two
Sigma:
- middle of the road performer of the three, not the worse and not the best
- distortion is better than the other two
- close focusing (20cm)/macro ability (1:3)
For those wondering why I am posting this:
- Tokina shares the same optics as Pentax
- you can get sigma in Pentax mount
- there has been a rumour that the Tamron lens will be coming out in Pentax mount
cheers
Kenny
