WOW what have I done?? FA*85mm

I've been debating whether to get a K-7 or complete the lens kit with the best I can afford. Today I made that decision on a lens Ebay 85mm about 30 seconds ago.

The one on auction closing today is going too high (made no sense to me at all because of the box??) and this one was $19.00 more than the other one listed but the front glass is blemish free.

Still in a bit of shock. But it will fill a significant hole in my kit which is much smaller than many here but pretty much the best you can have at each respective length.

I've shot with this lens before (loaner) and it's stunning. The A* might be a bit better but only a tiny bit.

Can't wait to clamp it on the K20D.

Next will be to get another 31mm..... I think Silver would look nice.

You don't sound like you have much remorse buying this set of glassware, Peter.
So go ahead and enjoy it to the full!
The K20D + FA 85 is a match made in photography heaven...

The choice between the FA 85 and a K-7 is not too hard - results from this lens will speak for itself... Congrats Peter and don't look back!

no wonder you stopped showing interest in the samyang 85mmF1.4

I propose a challenge when you get your 85, this could be a lot of fun

Very nice condition Peter! Even the cosmetics look good - minimal marks. It's going to be an awesome addition to your work kit.

Unfortunately I must keep my funds for another FA*... darn LBA!!

Regards,
Marc

Can't go wrong getting glass like that Peter, congrats. Fair price, too.

You can get the K-7 in the Fall when it's cheaper, or next summer when it's a steal, or wait for the next body. You'll still have that FA 85 when the K-7 is a memory.

K20D is still a fantastic camera, and with the 85mm in your arsenal now... oh man. I'm envious!

Good choice on passing on the K7 for now and investing in lenses. I am doing the same.

I'd love to see footage with this though

Any store sell these still? Even used? Or is ebay the only way to go? I know some photo stores on occasion sell legacy / manual lenses...love to put this on a lease order

I think that's a good decision, Peter. There's no need to rush to the K7: the K20D does just fine. I'm glad that lens will be in capable hands!

KEH had an A* 85 a couple of years ago. I forgot what they were asking, it didn't matter as I couldn't afford it anyway w/o a bank robbery. So they do come up from time to time. It is a very very very nice lens but I've got the 77 ltd. If I had the funds, I'd spend the money on either a 31 ltd or maybe the new 60-250 or the DA * 300.

Congrats Peter. It is a very very very nice lens! I am a bit jealous, but I'm still saving up for my 31. Looking forward to seeing shots from it tho...
