I got my Sigma 100-300mm APO EX DG F/4

Well, it's here and it's absolutely awesome. A total monster. Early test shots are proving to be very good indeed, very sharp down to f/4 with excellent build quality. No weather sealing, but not big deal to me. Autofocus is very fast and accurate.

I was going to make a video of the autofocus doing a sweep, but I found one on Youtube already:

YouTube - SIGMA APO 100-300mm F4 EX DG AF Speed K20D

Highly recommended, test shots to come!

Congratulations on your new lens. I'm sure you will enjoy using this great lens. This is my primary lens with the K10D for my wildlife photos.

Cheers

There was a great thunderstorm in the distance that was spooky but with lovely clouds, so I had a chance to hang the lens out the window and snap this at 300mm:

Finally got the weather to get some quick test shots, I'm very impressed with this lens. Autofocus is very fast, accurate and the pictures are sharp with plenty of contrast.

Maybe I should pair it up with a K-7......

Here is the set:

Congratulations, and you had posted some nice pictures.

It is an incredible lens indeed....I will be trying my K-7 on it next wknd. (Camera en route) and chase some seagulls with it to test the faster AF....by far the fastest focusing lens in my kit.

I got mine just a little over a year ago and they were going for around $1000 USD. I'm not sure if you can get one for under $1300 now.

Its a zoom posing as a prime. That sharp!

BTW congrats Big G

I was fortunate and caught this lens on sale through Amazon the last part of January 2009. Total with shipping: $797.87 This wasn't the lowest price I saw but it bounced back up and then came back down and I caught it. I just checked and it is listed over $1300 on Amazon. Wow.

darn. though I don't really want a Sigma, I might consider having one. unless of course the prime DA* 300 is better than it? I mean both lenses run around the same price.
