I am not sure what you are saying... What about the m42 to K mount adaptor makes you have to stop the super tak down? And why can't you use it wide open?

Just wondering what it all meant?

whoops... sorry about that one. got confused there as I thought I was using or mistook an adpator for a TC. lol. damn I'm embarrassed. sorry, just a lot of things are going on here lately and my brain is getting mixed up on everything. anyway, come to think of it doesn't make any difference since both are manual focus regardless of the other using an M42-K mount adaptor ( not a TC as what was registering on my mind, my bad).

ok, now back to the real concern or question at hand. is the Super Tak 200 better than it's Pentax 200 counterpart? in terms of IQ, sharpness, flare resistance? colors and effects?

I'm not so sure if it's true that the Super Tak 200 is really prone to oiling and other nasty stuff as compared to the 200 Pentax.

I more thing. since I dont have the 200mm yet (whether the Super Tak or Pentax M version) , I'm just wondering how well the 200 would fair against the 55-300? IQ, sharpness and speedwise? surely there's no debate on the build department, the 2 older primes are sure winners in that category.

oh and Super Tak more prone to PF than Pentax version?

You haven't reached the heights of LBA yet when:

- you still think you can scrutinize just one sample of each lens - of course you need several copies of each.

- you are still bragging with a list of lenses you own. Real addicts don't post lists cause they don't fit the screen. They don't tell everybody what's in that huge cabinet either.

- you only have lenses which will fit your system bayonet. Of course you need at least the best manual lenses of each system - sure there's a way you will have them converted in the immediate future. BTW all medium and large format lenses will fit your PK-system, just go for them .-)

- ... please fill in ....

Best of recovery, Georg (the other)

What stage are you at when you are seriously considering buying another K20D and using that purely for a slow growing Takumar collection? I think that is where i'm at now...
once i've got most of the Taks i'm moving on to the K's
then the FA limiteds
then a couple of the DA limiteds
but I'll have an A* 85 for my birthday in December
See I have a plan

I know this isn't really LBA, but I did buy an *ist just to tear it apart. I tore that thing down, took out the ir-cut filter, bought a Hoya R72, taught myself to cut glass, cut a new IR Filter, and inserted it into that camera, put it back together, took about 50 shots, set it on a computer desk and haven't thought about it much since. But I do have an IR camera if I want to use it. It's got about the same use as those lenses I got rid of.
