SMC K 20mm f/4 test shots.

Went for a walk about last evening with my recently acquired SMC K 20mm f/4. Here are a few shots. I love this lens. It will replace my SMC M 28mm and it also may replace my DA 12-24 Wide angle. The 20mm has a remarkable depth of field. The hyperfocal distance is really forgiving.

Who comes up with these names??

Oh I already tried that. It does not work on the title on the main thread. Try it.

After you use your K20/4 a bit longer, do a lens review. I finally got around to doing one last night and I would be interested in your opinion. I assume you are using the lens on a digital camera and I only shoot film, so it would be a good comparison.

PS Nice images, enjoy!

No distortion issues for me.
I always use a UV or Skylight filter & lens hood when shooting film, so no CA issues.
You can use a regular sized filter and the dedicated lens hood on the K20/4 with no vignetting. No such luck with using a polarizer.

Great question. No distortion at all that I can see. Chromatic Abberations - I've noticed none yet either. So far Soooooo good.

The 2nd-to-last picture of that car reminded me of the scene in The Godfather where Sonny was shot.

It worked the last time I had to do it, though features do change with software upgrades and such.

Nice shots! That lens looks like a great performer indeed. With my M 20 f4, I find that the colors just pop a bit more than any zoom I've used at 20mm, including the very 'poppy' DA* 16-50.

looks great, it looks like a lens to get in this FL... even though between it and 21mmltd is just a little.. still this lens looks more promising whenever I see some samples... Voigt 20mm might be another one worth investigating at this FL...

Yes, I agree. I'm going to have to go back to this location and shoot again in different light - the scene has great potential. Really tough to photograph because this is actually one of 4 old trucks parked right up against a barbed wire chainlink fence. I had to poke the camera throught the wire at the top to get a shot.

No kidding pop. I am really impressed with the color and sharpness. I might have to pick up an M 20mm as well some day only because I have a penchants for M series lenses.

lol if you are like me at all you might not need it, but because you don't have it, you want it.
