I'm very new to the Pentax family, as I just picked up the K100D a couple of weeks ago. Very happy to find this forum - LOADS of good info.

About this lens... I live in Ontario, Canada. I have searched online at various stores (Henry's, Vistek, Best Buy, etc)... but I have only been able to find this lens at Vistek.

The 18-55mm kit lens that came with my camera is good... but after reading various articles online (and this forum), I am REALLY pumped to pick up the 50mm.

Does anyone know where I can buy this lens in Canada? Or maybe a US store with cheap shipping, etc?

try craigslist first for cheap used 50 f1.4s. then london drugs if you want brand new. hope that helps.

Watch this forum's Marketplace. That's where I got my 50mm f/1.4. Straight from Canada too.

Its hard to believe that Henry's doesn't have the FA 50mm f1.4 in stock. I wonder if it is because of the DA* 55mm being pushed.

the FA 50 f1,4 is a pretty common lens, all the true camera stores in Quebec city carry it, and Henrys, Vistek, Cameracanada and others should have it too. Progidital on eBay should have it too.

1.) Pick one up here on the marketplace for cheap. If you don't see one put up a want add asking for one from Canada (so you won't pay duty).
2.) If you have a Henry's nearby they will carry it. If they don't have it in stock ask them to get one for you. Takes only a couple of days.
3.) Order from Aden Camera in Toronto and have it shipped to you. Their prices are typically the best.

Any of those 3 should net you the lens within a week and for no more than current retail cost.

To find FA series lenses, one needs to search on Henry's site under "film lenses" instead of "digital lenses". Here is the link: THE LINK
