The Kirons are here... (image rich content)

My new Vivitar zoom arrived today. Now I get to play with both my 75-205 f3.8 and my 70-150 f3.8 and see which I want to keep. (Pardon my color balance)

You can see the 75-205 is quite a bit bigger and heavier. The 70-150 is super smooth in all operations. The 75-205 is smooth from 70-105, and then the zoom gets pretty loose through the rest of the range. It works fine, and I could live with it, but it's not as solid as the 70-150. I don't really mind the weight. The real key, is does it take good pictures...

I have not had much time to take many with the new lens, but I always snap a couple of the African Violet on the kitchen table:

The 75-205mm-

The 70-150mm-

Not very scientific. Taken on different days and in different light, from different angles.

A couple of shots of my son:

The 75-205mm-

The 70-150mm-

Again, different days, light, and angles.

In short, I'm not ready to let go of either. I like the longer range of the 75-205mm. I will see if I gravitate to it, or the lighter, smaller 70-150mm.

Hi,

Both seem to be fairly equal in quality. This going to be a tough choice... If they did not cost to much then keeping both is the way to go.

I do landscapes mostly, So I might chose the 105 version. But if you need the reach then you keep the 250 version.

Kirons work well with converters, As well with them stacked.

So, it is a tough choice since both look and do quite well.

Good Luck,
Rudy
