Anyone using the Sigma 17-35mm F2.8-4.0 zoom?

I have been thinking about my recent lens selection. I own (not including manual focus lenses) the DA 14, Sigma 24-70 F2.8 Macro, and Sigma 70-200 F2.8 HSM Macro. I realize these are three pretty nice lenses, but I do miss something around 17/18-24.

Been back and forth on what to get to fill the gap... The 18-55 WR crossed my mind - then I would have a weather sealed lens as well. What do you think?

The 17-35mm is a solid lens--fast to focus and good for landscapes. If you're interested in buying one, let me know because I think I'm going to go with a wide prime instead.

I picked up a 17-35mm (as I could find a decent 17-70 in my area).

I haven't used it that much ... but the test shots I have taken with it (no newspaper or wall shots) have been pretty decent.

I have yet to shoot landscape with it ... when i get a chance though I will give it a run. So far though dark indoor shots seem to render nicely.

The Sigma 17-70 would be a more flexible lens ... but the older 17-35 is still pretty sharp.

A couple of test shots can be found here ... I have more offline though at home

I have shot on this lens many times (as a friend has owned it) and I have to say that, while it's an excellent performer on film bodies, I think it suffers due to its focal length on the crop sensor. I think you might be happier getting rid of the 24-70mm (a weird focal length for crop sensor anyway) and buying SIGMA's newest version of the 18-50 f2.8 or the other lens you mentioned. Not to mention, the 18-50 and the 17-35 can be found for about the same price on ebay.
