I'm also the proud owner of the Tammy 70-200 and it's been great so far, I just hope it doesn't come down with the dreaded "sticky apature syndrome".

Sorry I din't get back with you Shane33,but it looks like you did okay. Now lets see some pics.

The lens you sent the link for only had a 1 year warrenty so it would have been gray market I assume. The EX series has a 4 year warrenty.

I got my lens yesterday also but I have to send it back. It will now focus at all, not in AF or MF. Sucks! Damn QC

I got mine from Teds, they priced matched an online store, also came with a free PMA 2009 kit, including a Tamron Monopod (which i later sold for $55) Lowepro sling bag and assorted goodies

also i did a focus test with mine as a few pics i took seemed out of focus even though i thought i focused correctly (may have just been me)

Do these results look ok (ie no BF, FF) they seem ok to me but would like a 2nd opinion

I can't be 100% positive but it looks like to me it is front focusing in all but one shot. It really is hard to tell though.

Tamron SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD(IF)Macro

Nice, I just also got hold of one of these lens. I like it so far!

Used shortly on my trip to Griffith Observatory. It was a really large lens to carry uphill...but the carrying case helped. When mounted, you can remove the tripod collar if you want to use it for a walkaround. The fact that the lens does not rotate when you focus is nice, otherwise I couldn't imagine this lens extending further...

Very sharp with excellent IQ wide open.

In daylight, as well as indoors, I've not had any of the slow focus problems others have mentioned.

Like any other lens on a Pentax DSLR, it does hunt in certain low / weird light condition but compared to my other lens (Pentax and Sigma), it is comparably fast , and definitely better than Sigma DG APO 70-300mm.

Shot wide open at 95mm ISO400 with sun setting in the background. Small level and sharpness adjustments in Aperture with some skin toning.

As you know I would like a comparison between this one and the Sigma which I will receive today. If you dn't mind I will post some sample shots here maybe this weekend.

If your up to it jackbullet, we could take simular shots with same settings. Let me know if you are game.

Disclaimer: I am not trying to discredit the Tamron in anyway I just think it would be helpful to all to have a thread with side by side comparisons. For all I know the Tamron will kick the Sigmas butt. I know they are both good lenses.
Ok Oren its a deal. You post your shots with shot data and then i will reply with shots from same focal length and arpeture. This should be interesting.

My suggestion would be to compare shots at 70mm, 100mm and 200mm at f2.8, f5.6 and f11.....what do you think?

Jack. PS. Its winter down here so it has been very overcast/lowlight but I will try my best

I took the Sig out for a little test run today and took a few shots @ 200 f2.8 just to see what it would do.
Its surely not tack sharp at 2.8 but it IS 2.8
No sharpening, just a little color correction and a slight crop.

Full res. @ My Flickr

I also have a few on there of a volleyball game but I downsized them and sharpened.

I will try to get some up as you said jackbullet, 70, 100, 200 and so on. It might take a minute though. I was going to spend most of the day out but I came home to take the GF shopping which was only suppose to be about an hour. It was 1 1/2 hours in the shoe store alone and two more stops and dinner. Well, you can add.

BTW nice shots shane33

Nothing wrong with tamron Auto-focus

Everyone keeps saying how crap the AF is on the Tammy but I don't have this problem. Following a subject with the AF button depressed has given me great results. The following pics were taken today at my sons soccer match. One is of him in action and the other two pics are of seagulls hovering around the park on a scavenging trip. The third and fourth seagull pics are 100% crops.
All shots were at 200mm @ 2.8. It was an overcast day again so the ISO was 400.

I like this lens alot!!

Jack
