I suspect that if you do get the 70, especially while you are away, unless you make a conscious effort to put it on your camera and use it, you will find yourself leaving it in the bag because it won't be able to compete with the versatility of the 50-135.

The 50-135 is very sharp wide-open. Below is a cropped example.

Anyway, to the OP, you will probably love the 70mm limited (everyone does,) but it's
combo of FL and max aperture probably won't bring you any new photographic
opportunities you wouldn't have with the 50-135, unless the size would really
be an advantage to you. If that doesn't matter too much, get another FA or
DA limited from 15 - 43mm Or the 77ltd for the f/1.8 aperture and general
optical brilliance.

It depends on how you like to shoot, i guess. You may also have a bad copy. I've just had my DA 50-135 for 2 days and i find it awesome!! My new walkabout pack will be the 50-135, DA35macro and a DA-21. Very light weight and very effective. For a local theater group, i just took head shots for the brochure of 21 actors in less than 2 hours with a friend. I took them all F2.8, around 70mm or a bit more. They came out looking very professional, better than i deserved with my experience.

If i had the DA70 - i wouldn't use it enough to justify it.

Best wishes,
